Biography Of Martha Vickers
Martha Vickers was born on May 28, 1925, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, U.S. to James S. and Frances MacVicar. While nothing much is known about her mother, it is known that her father worked as an automobile dealer for a while before he moved to Burbank, California where he worked with an agency.
Of Jewish ethnicity, Martha started her career first as a model when she was still a teenager. Initially, she had no interest in becoming an actress but everything changed the moment a free-lance photographer took a picture of her in a restaurant.
The picture attracted a movie contract for her. She started with small roles before she later landed what became a breakout role when she appeared in The Big Sleep in 1946. Before then, she had appeared in productions such as Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man and Captive Wild Woman 1943, and then This Is the Life and The Falcon in Mexico in 1944. In the years that followed, she appeared in many more films and TV shows.

Blessed with great looks and blue eyes and brown blonde hair, she had a love life that was interesting, even though not one was long-lasting. As stated, she married three men at different points of her life and divorced them all before she died.
The first husband of Martha Vickers was A. C. Lyles
The first man that Martha got married to was Andrew Craddock Lyles Jr. who was better known as A. C. Lyles. He was an American film producer. Not much is known about how they met, but it is not a secret that they got married in March 1948 and by September of the same year, they parted ways. The reason behind their marriage that lasted only a few months was not revealed.
However, Lyles did not marry again until 1955 when he met and got married to Martha French. The two were together since then until 2013 when Lyles died at the age of 95. They did not have any children between them.

The next man she got married to was Mickey Rooney who was an actor, comedian, producer, and a lot of other things. Before their paths crossed, Micky was first married to actress and singer Ava Gardner from 1942 to 1943.
Next, he married Betty Jane Rase from 1944 to 1949. In the same year that this marriage ended, Micky and Martha got married, making her the third of the eight women he would end up marrying; Elaine Devry from 1952 to 1958, Carolyn Mitchell from 1958 to 1966, Marge Lane from 1966 to 1967, Carolyn Hockett from 1969 to 1975 and finally, he married Jan Rooney in 1978. They were together until the actor died in 2014 at the age of 93.
Martha and Mickey Rooney’s marriage lasted only two years from 1949 to 1951, The marriage did not last long as a result of the drinking habits of Rooney and what she termed as cruelty. Nonetheless, it was still blessed with a son, Ted Michael Rooney who was born in 1950. He was also an actor who before his death in 2016, was married to Carol A. Enright and had two kids, Dominique Rooney and Shannon Rooney.
Following their divorce, Martha was granted custody of their little child and she was to receive $150 a month for child support and $300 a month in alimony. It was revealed that Mickey later wanted to patch things with her but she didn’t seem interested.

After her first two failed marriages, Martha decided to give it another try and so in 1954, she got married to actor Manuel Rojas whom she met only a year earlier. This marriage seemed as though it was going to last a very long time.
Unfortunately, after 10 years of marriage, Martha and Manuel ended their marriage in 1965. Before then, they were blessed with two daughters; Tina Rojas and Tessa Rojas, both of whom were born in 1964.

In the mid-1940s, the actress and automobile dealer Al Herd dated and came very close to getting married. In fact, they had already set a date, but it was later postponed for six weeks because they were hunting for a home. The relationship later came to an end.

She Died Of Cancer Of The Esophagus In 1971
From the 1960s, not so much was heard of the beautiful actress as a result of ill health. It was later realized that she was suffering from cancer of the esophagus which took her life in 1971 at the young age of 46.
